Adana Demirspor’s prolific striker, Mbaye Niang, currently showcasing an exceptional form in the Turkish first division, has expressed his desire to make a comeback to the French football elite.
Despite his stellar performance on the field, Niang, like many players in the Super Lig, grapples with the issue of delayed payments, casting a shadow on the morale of the Senegalese player.
In an exclusive interview with L’Equipe, the seasoned footballer, who has previously played for renowned clubs such as Caen, Montpellier, Rennes, Bordeaux, and Auxerre, conveyed his intention to part ways with Adana Demirspor. Niang revealed that he has informed the team’s leadership about his decision, and efforts are underway to facilitate his return to Ligue 1.
“I want to leave. I communicated this to the leaders. Those around me are working in this direction. I would like to return to Ligue 1; it is a priority for me because it is a Championship that I know and where I have performed well.
In the form I’m in, it’s a goal. I am confident, I am good enough to perform. I have concrete contacts but especially in Russia, Italy, Saudi Arabia… We are having discussions in France to see how we can do it.
The past has taught me that there is no point in communicating the names of clubs for the moment,” declared Mbaye Niang, who has netted 8 goals this season for Adana Demirspor.
Niang’s aspirations to return to Ligue 1 come against the backdrop of two successive relegations with FCGB and AJA, adding a layer of determination to his quest for a fresh start in familiar territory.
While the striker keeps his potential suitors in suspense regarding specific club names, the football community eagerly awaits the unfolding of this chapter in Mbaye Niang’s illustrious career.
