Jaraaf Clinch 13th Senegalese League title with dominant final-day victory
ASC Jaraaf claimed their 13th Senegalese Ligue 1 title in emphatic fashion on Saturday, overpowering relegation-threatened ASC HLM 4-1 on the final matchday of the season.
Heading into the decisive round level on points with rivals US Gorée, the Medinois knew that only a win would guarantee them the championship.
They delivered in style at the Djiguily Bakayoko Stadium in Grand-Yoff, capitalising on Gorée’s slip-up against Guédiawaye to secure their first league triumph since 2018.
Malick Daf’s side were in no mood to leave their fate to chance.
Jaraaf took control early, opening the scoring in the 21st minute through a well-taken goal by Mbaye Ndiaye.
The breakthrough settled any nerves, and Ababacar Sarr doubled the advantage just eight minutes later, giving the Green and Whites a firm grip on the contest.

ASC HLM, already relegated and fighting for pride, managed to reduce the deficit in the second half.
However, Jaraaf’s attacking intent remained relentless. Souleymane Cissé restored the two-goal cushion in the 71st minute before Abdoulaye Oualy put the result beyond doubt six minutes later.
The 4-1 win confirmed Jaraaf as champions, rendering US Gorée’s 1-0 defeat to Guédiawaye meaningless.
While Gorée finish as runners-up, it is Jaraaf who lift the coveted trophy, bringing joy to their supporters and adding another chapter to the club’s illustrious history.
This latest triumph marks Jaraaf’s 13th national title and comes amid a remarkable season in which the team also reached the final of the Senegal Cup.
They now stand on the brink of a potential domestic double, with a clash against Génération Foot still to come.
Jaraaf’s achievement reflects a campaign built on consistency, tactical discipline, and attacking flair.
Under Daf’s guidance, the team has blended experience and youth, finding balance at both ends of the pitch.
For the Medinois, the celebrations will be short-lived as attention turns to the upcoming cup final.
But for now, Jaraaf are once again kings of Senegalese football — and deservedly so.
