Italian outfit Napoli are planning to call up Nigeria international Victor Osimhen for preseason training despite facing a possible departure from the club.
Osimhen has become a subject of interest for several clubs including Saudi giants Al Hilal, and Chelsea, as he is set for a permanent departure from Napoli this summer.
The Nigeria forward spent last season on loan at Galatasaray, playing an instrumental role in the clubs success in the Turkish top-flight.
The 26-year-old forward had a phenomenal season, scoring 37 goals and providing 8 assists in 41 matches, tallying a remarkable 45 goal contributions.
His outstanding performance have inevitably attracted the attention of football giants across the globe, who are knocking on Osimhen’s door more persistently with each passing day.
Despite speculations about his imminent departure, Napoli is expected to include Osimhen in their squad for preseason, which kicks off in mid-July.
Osimhen is scheduled to undergo medical tests from July 14 to 15 before joining the team’s training camp.
The forward has already rejected a lucrative offer from Al-Hilal, who were ready to pay him €30 million per year.
The Saudi club remains interested in securing his transfer, but if a deal is not reached in the coming weeks, Napoli will officially include the player in their squad for preseason preparations.
It’s worth recalling that Osimhen’s contract runs until 2026 with an option for a one-year extension, and includes a €75 million release clause—which is out of reach for Italian clubs.
