AFCON 2015 – DR Congo’s Mbokani Confident Ahead of Semi-Final Clash: “If We Beat Ivory Coast, We’ll Win the Final!”
Dieumerci Mbokani, hero of the quarter-finals with a brilliant brace against Congo-Brazzaville, has no fear heading into DR Congo’s semi-final showdown with Ivory Coast this Wednesday in the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations.
Despite the Ivorian side being stacked with high-profile talent — Yaya Touré, Gervinho, Wilfried Bony, and Max Gradel — Mbokani remains unfazed by the favorites tag placed on the Elephants.
“We have every chance. Ivory Coast has more stars than us, but it’s the feet that will make the difference, not the names,” declared the confident striker in an interview with DH.
“In the qualifiers, we beat them 3-4 on their own turf. We’re full of confidence. And I tell you: if we qualify, we’ll win the final.”
Having come alive at the perfect moment in the tournament, Mbokani is determined to lead the Leopards one step further and dreams of lifting the trophy. Coach Florent Ibenge will be counting on the striker’s form and mentality to upset the star-studded Ivorians.
