Adebayor Linked with Stoke City Move as Spurs Exit Nears
Emmanuel Adebayor’s uncertain future at Tottenham Hotspur may soon take a new turn, with reports suggesting a possible move to Stoke City is on the cards.
The 30-year-old Togolese striker, who has managed just two goals in 11 Premier League appearances this season, has been at the centre of ongoing transfer speculation throughout the window. Despite earlier surprise links to Paris Saint-Germain and Queens Park Rangers, it now appears that Stoke City could be his next destination.
According to Sky Sports, talks have progressed in recent hours, and a deal may be finalised soon. Stoke are in urgent need of attacking reinforcements following the serious injury to Bojan Krkic, who has been ruled out for at least six months after suffering a ruptured cruciate ligament in his left knee.
While QPR showed strong interest in Adebayor over the weekend, negotiations reportedly stalled over his high wage demands. Stoke, however, seem more willing to accommodate his salary structure, especially given their pressing need for experienced firepower up front.
Adebayor has struggled to secure regular playing time under Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino, falling behind the likes of Harry Kane and Roberto Soldado in the pecking order. A move to the Britannia Stadium could offer the former Arsenal and Manchester City forward a much-needed opportunity to reboot his season.
Should the deal go through, Adebayor would bring Premier League pedigree and physical presence to Mark Hughes’ side, who are aiming for a strong finish to the campaign despite recent injury setbacks.
For Adebayor, it may be a final chance to rediscover his best form and remind the league of the talent that once made him one of its most feared strikers.
