Transfer Market: Djamel Abdoun Set to Leave Nottingham Forest

Djamel Abdoun Set for Nottingham Forest Exit, Lokeren Move on the Cards

Algerian international Djamel Abdoun is reportedly on the verge of leaving Nottingham Forest before the close of the winter transfer window, with Belgian side Lokeren emerging as his likely destination.

According to French outlet L’Équipe, the 28-year-old midfielder is expected to join Lokeren on loan with an option to make the move permanent at the end of the season. The Belgian Pro League side currently sit eighth in the standings and are looking to bolster their midfield options.

Abdoun has struggled for playing time at Forest, having not featured in a single competitive match this season. The former Olympiacos and Nantes player joined the English Championship club in July 2013 but has failed to establish himself in the squad, falling further down the pecking order in recent months.

With opportunities limited at the City Ground, the move to Belgium offers Abdoun a much-needed chance to relaunch his career and get regular minutes ahead of future international duties with Algeria.

Should the deal go through, it would mark a fresh chapter for a player who once showed great promise on the European stage. For Forest, it also opens the door to offloading wages and potentially creating space for incoming reinforcements.
