Cape Verde Coach José Rui Aguas Frustrated After Goalless Draw with DR Congo
Cape Verde coach José Rui Aguas expressed deep disappointment following his team’s 0-0 draw with DR Congo in their second group stage match at the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations. The Portuguese manager felt the Blue Sharks’ performance merited a better result.
“The draw isn’t a fair result. It was a bit of a repeat of the match against Tunisia,” Rui Aguas said. “The first half was very good; we had three, four, or five chances to score. We slowed down at the start of the second half, but we were always more dangerous, especially at the end of the match with two clear chances.”
Despite the frustration, Rui Aguas acknowledged the fine margins of tournament football. “We’re disappointed, but sometimes that’s how it is.”
With two points from their opening two games, Cape Verde will look to make amends in their final group fixture against Zambia, where a win is crucial to keep their hopes of advancing alive.
