Egypt head coach Rui Vitória has intensified preparations with the team as the record champions get to be in the early stages of their training ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations tournament.
In an instagram post, the Portuguese manager wrote,
“Today was day one of the last phase of preparation for the AFCON. It’s always a joy to be with my team. In the first training session, I felt the excitement and special energy to face the demanding path we have ahead.”
Egypt began their preparations towards the continental showpiece on Tuesday with their first training session at the newly established Olympic City Stadium in the New Administrative Capital.
Vitória is making his first international tournament appearance with the Pharoahs in the AFCON 2023 in Ivory Coast, which is taking place this month.
The Pharoahs have been unfortunate by losing in two finals of the last three editions of the AFCON.
That is 2017 in Gabon and 2021 in Cameroon alongside a disappointing Round of 16 elimination on home soil against South Africa.
Egypt will go confidently in this AFCON as they seek to extend a record 8th trophy since their last triumph in 2010 in Angola when they beat Ghana 1-0 in the final.
Being paired in Group B with Ghana, Cape Verde, and Mozambique, Egypt, are tipped to progress from this group to the next round of the tournament.
