Mohamed Youssef, the former head coach of Al Ahly, has commended the exceptional accomplishments of Swiss coach Marcel Koller, the current head coach of the Red Castle, for securing five championships with the prestigious club.
Youssef expressed his admiration during a television interview, stating, “Koller has demonstrated a strong performance with Al Ahly, winning five championships in an exceptional achievement.”
Reflecting on the season’s beginning, Youssef acknowledged the challenges, mentioning, “The start of the season with Koller was not successful, especially after losing the African Super Cup to ES Setif and exiting the African League.
However, afterward, the team managed to return to its natural form.”
Regarding the player Ahmed Abdelkader, Youssef acknowledged his talent but noted that his chemistry did not align with Koller’s coaching style.
He emphasized Koller’s excellence as a coach, stating, “My evaluation of Koller is as an excellent coach, especially given that there is no coach who secures all the championships.”
Youssef continued his praise, saying, “Al Ahly is on the right track with Koller.
When a team participates in five championships, for example, and secures three of them, that is very good.
Look at Manchester City, the greatest team in the world, and they haven’t won all championships.”
Mohamed Youssef, during his tenure with Al Ahly, led the team to clinch titles in the CAF Champions League and the CAF Super Cup, in addition to various domestic experiences with Smouha, Petrojet, and Tala’ea El Gaish, with his latest stint being with Iraqi club Al-Naft.
