AFCON 2015 – Moussa Sow: “I Was Disappointed Not to Start, But the Most Important Thing Is the Win”
Moussa Sow was Senegal’s hero on Monday evening, coming off the bench to score the winning goal in stoppage time against Ghana, handing the Lions of Teranga a crucial 2-1 victory in their Group C opener of the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations.
Speaking after the match, the Fenerbahçe forward expressed his satisfaction with the result, despite his initial frustration at not starting:
“It’s good to have taken the three points and now we have to focus on the next match. I was disappointed not to start, it’s normal, I’m competitive, I want to play and win. I put my feelings aside, I keep them inside—we have to respect the coach’s choices.”
“It’s true that I was the one who came on and scored, that’s it.”
Sow’s late strike rewarded Senegal’s dominant second-half performance and gave them a perfect start in what is widely considered the most difficult group of the tournament. The Lions will next face South Africa, with growing confidence after this morale-boosting win.
