The Nigeria National League (NNL) has confirmed that the prestigious Stephen Keshi Stadium in Asaba, Delta State, will host the 2025 NNL Super 8 tournament from July 5 to 12.

Eight clubs will compete in the week-long championship, with promotion to the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) at stake following an intense and highly competitive league season.

The qualified teams are Warri Wolves, Osun United, Crown FC, Kun Khalifa FC, Wikki Tourists, Yobe Desert Stars, Doma FC, and Barau FC.

Delta State Governor Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori granted official approval for the tournament to be staged in Asaba, a move hailed by the NNL as a testament to the state’s commitment to the growth of football and sports development in Nigeria.

“We are happy to announce that the sports-loving Governor of Delta State, Hon. Oborevwori, has given approval for the hosting of the NNL Super 8 in Asaba,” the NNL said in an official statement. “We’re grateful for this kind gesture, which will further cement the position of Delta State as a leading sporting state in the country.”

The tournament marks the conclusion of the 2024/2025 NNL campaign, and will determine not only the league champion but also the four clubs to be promoted to the NPFL for the 2025/2026 season.

NNL Chairman George Aluo assured fans of a high-quality event, promising an exciting and professionally managed competition that reflects the calibre of teams involved.

“There will be no dull moment throughout the duration of the Super 8,” Aluo said. “All eight teams have shown quality and resilience to get to this stage, and any of them is capable of securing promotion.”

He also emphasized the league’s cooperation with the Delta State Government to ensure a seamless and successful hosting experience.

With anticipation building, the NNL has invited football lovers, stakeholders, and media representatives to witness what is expected to be a celebration of talent, grit, and ambition at one of Nigeria’s most iconic football venues.

As the spotlight turns to Asaba, the stage is set for a captivating showcase of the nation’s emerging football stars vying for a place at the top of Nigerian football.
