Jacques Faty Joins Sydney FC, Reunites with Cousin Mickaël Tavares
Senegalese defender Jacques Faty has added a new chapter to his football journey by signing with Sydney FC in Australia. The former Sochaux and Wuhan Zall player announced the move via his official social media accounts.
“I’m very happy to join Sydney FC. And also to play with my cousin Mickaël Tavares,” said Faty, referring to his fellow Senegalese international, who also recently joined the A-League side.
The two players share a close bond — their mothers are sisters, and they’ve played together since childhood, including in the Senegal national team.
“It’s a new and very exciting challenge for us,” Faty added.
“We already played together when we were kids, and now again on the professional stage. That’s a big motivation.”
Faty begins training with Sydney FC this week and is expected to make his debut in their upcoming match against Central Coast Mariners on January 24.
