Mourinho Charged by FA Over Referee Comments
Chelsea manager José Mourinho has been charged by the Football Association for comments made in the aftermath of his side’s 1-1 draw with Southampton on 28 December.
The Portuguese boss suggested there was a “campaign” against Chelsea and criticised Premier League referees—remarks the FA has deemed improper and potentially damaging to the reputation of the game.
“José Mourinho has been charged for misconduct in relation to media comments,” the FA said in a statement released on Friday. “It is alleged that his remarks constitute improper conduct in that they allege and/or imply bias on the part of match officials, and/or bring the game into disrepute.”
Mourinho has until 6pm on 13 January 2015 to respond to the charge. A fine or touchline ban could follow if he is found guilty.
