AFCON 2015 – Tunisia Aiming High in Balanced Group B, Says Assistant Coach Hatem Missaoui
Following the draw for the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations held in Malabo, Tunisia has been placed in Group B alongside Zambia, Cape Verde, and the Democratic Republic of Congo. A group considered within reach for the Carthage Eagles, who topped their qualifying group in convincing fashion.
Assistant coach Hatem Missaoui struck a note of cautious optimism, calling for focus and respect for all opponents:
“We must play all our AFCON matches with the same seriousness and the same mindset and not underestimate any opponent.”
Missaoui also emphasized the importance of tactical preparation, noting that each opponent presents unique challenges:
“Zambia, Cape Verde, and the Democratic Republic of Congo each play a different kind of football, and we must study these teams carefully to avoid making mistakes.”
With confidence in the current squad—whose performances in the qualifiers have reassured the technical staff—the Carthage Eagles now enter a special preparation phase ahead of the competition, which runs from January 17 to February 8 in Equatorial Guinea.
Tunisia’s Group B Schedule:
-
January 18: Tunisia vs Cape Verde
-
January 22: Tunisia vs Zambia
-
January 26: Tunisia vs DR Congo
With expectations running high, Tunisia will be looking to reassert its position among the continent’s elite and progress deep into the tournament.
