Laurent Blanc Praises Yacine Brahimi Amid PSG Transfer Rumors
Algerian international Yacine Brahimi, currently shining at FC Porto, has been strongly linked with Paris Saint-Germain. While nothing is official, speculation continues that the former Rennes midfielder could make a move to the French capital in the next summer transfer window.
Laurent Blanc, PSG’s head coach, was asked about Brahimi following his side’s narrow 1-0 victory over Nice. Blanc, who knows the player well from his time at Rennes, had high praise for Brahimi’s evolution:
“He used to play for Rennes, I know him very well, Mr. Brahimi. He’s had an extraordinary start to the season with FC Porto. I saw him play, and he’s confirming all the talent we saw in him before.”
Blanc noted Brahimi’s inconsistency during his early days in Ligue 1 but emphasized how crucial his move to Spain—and later Porto—was to his development:
“He had the qualities and potential, but he was missing something. Spain helped him grow. Now at Porto, a great club with great players, he’s showing the full extent of his talent.”
When asked about the possibility of a transfer, Blanc didn’t shy away from the financial realities:
“The only problem is he left Rennes for cheap, and Porto slapped on a very expensive release clause. We know the amount—it gives you something to think about. But when you love talent, you have to pay for it!”
While no deal is imminent, Blanc’s comments suggest genuine admiration and hint at PSG’s ongoing interest in acquiring the talented playmaker.
