Ligue 1 club FC Lorient are interested in signing France goalkeeper of Congolese descent Steve Mandanda.
The club is pushing to secure the services of the 40-year-old goalkeeper to add experience to their squad for the 2025/26 football season.
With first-choice goalkeeper Yvon Mvogo potentially on his way out, addressing the goalkeeping position has become a top priority for Lorient.
The Swiss international’s contract is set to expire at the end of the month, and he is yet to agree on an extension with the club.
In response, Lorient have opened talks with Mandanda, whose contract with local rivals Stade Rennais also runs out this month.
A free transfer remains on the table, and Lorient have reportedly made signing the former Olympique de Marseille shot-stopper their main focus.
However, Mandanda is said to be taking his time to consider the move, prompting Lorient to simultaneously offer a two-year extension to Mvogo, who has yet to give a response.
Lorient are hopeful that they can sign the former Olympique Marseille man in the next few weeks.
