Jose Riveiro steps up as Al Ahly begin Club World Cup journey
Al Ahly have placed their hopes in Spanish tactician Jose Riveiro as they gear up for their tenth FIFA Club World Cup appearance, set to take place from 15 June to 13 July 2025 in the United States.
Riveiro becomes the fourth foreign coach to lead the Egyptian giants in this elite competition, following in the footsteps of Manuel Jose, Pitso Mosimane, and Marcel Koller.
The Red Devils find themselves in a challenging group featuring Lionel Messi’s Inter Miami, Brazil’s Palmeiras, and Portugal’s Porto. Their campaign kicks off with a blockbuster clash against Inter Miami at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami on 15 June.
Riveiro shoulders the high expectations of Al Ahly fans, eager to see their team add another milestone to its storied history. While Mosimane remains the most decorated foreign coach for the club, having secured two third-place finishes, Riveiro enters the scene with ambition and belief.
With 32 teams competing for the first time ever, the stage is set for Al Ahly to make global headlines. All attention now shifts to Miami.
