Algerian Midfielder Ahmed Kashi on Christian Gourcuff’s Radar After Metz Return
After missing the start of the season, Ahmed Kashi made a notable return to Ligue 1 with FC Metz, scoring against Reims on Matchday 8. His performance has not gone unnoticed by Algeria national team coach Christian Gourcuff, who confirmed that the midfielder is being monitored.
“Yazid Mansouri has already supervised the player recently,” Gourcuff told National Radio.
“We are therefore keeping a close eye on him, as well as on other players playing both in Algeria and abroad.”
Background:
Kashi was a regular last season during Metz’s promotion campaign.
He made his first appearance this Ligue 1 season on Matchday 6 after a 1.5-month absence due to injury.
His goal against Reims has helped raise his profile at a key time for national team selections.
With AFCON qualifiers on the horizon, Kashi’s return to form could put him in contention for a call-up to the Fennecs.
