Divock Origi Impresses Again – Liverpool Boss Rodgers Predicts World-Class Future
Divock Origi continues to rise. The Belgian international of Kenyan descent, currently on loan at LOSC Lille, impressed once more during Belgium’s Euro 2016 qualifier against Andorra, solidifying his status as one of Europe’s most promising young forwards.
His performances have drawn glowing praise from Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers, who signed him last summer before loaning him back to Lille for the season.
“There are few players who can replace Suarez. There aren’t any,” Rodgers stated. “But we’ve taken a player in Divock Origi who we think will be a world-class player, and we’ll get him back next summer. He’s already one of the best in his position. He could play for Liverpool right now.”
Origi, who has scored three goals in seven Ligue 1 games so far this season, was delighted by his manager’s comments:
“I take that as a big compliment. I know he wanted me immediately,” Origi said. “Liverpool are following me closely. I’ve already met a scout two or three times after a match. I get feedback from time to time. It’s still positive that I can continue to develop at Lille. Coach René Girard has faith in me. I feel like I’m making progress. I’m playing more and more like a man. The last World Cup certainly accelerated my development.”
With his blend of pace, power, and maturity, Origi is fast becoming one of the most exciting prospects in European football — and Liverpool fans have every reason to be excited for his arrival at Anfield.
