Atalanta Bergamo have expressed strong interest in signing Moroccan midfielder Sofyan Amrabat, who is set to leave Fenerbahçe at the end of the season when his loan spell concludes.

The Serie A club’s new manager Ivan Juric, who previously coached Amrabat at Hellas Verona, is reportedly keen on a reunion with the combative midfielder as he reshapes Atalanta’s squad for the upcoming campaign.

Juric has identified Amrabat as his top midfield target, seeking a player who brings aggression, tactical discipline, and the ability to connect defence with attack.

“Sofyan Amrabat is a player I know well,” Juric has said previously. “His mentality and understanding of the game are exactly what I need in the heart of my midfield.”

The 28-year-old’s season in Turkey has been a mixed one.

While he racked up 43 appearances across all competitions for Fenerbahçe—scoring twice and providing four assists—his performances were frequently scrutinised by fans and pundits alike.

His disciplinary record also raised eyebrows, with 13 yellow cards accumulated over the course of 3,244 minutes played.

Despite the challenges faced during his stint in Istanbul, Amrabat’s profile remains attractive to European clubs due to his experience, versatility, and work ethic.

The Moroccan international, who rose to global prominence with standout displays at the 2022 FIFA World Cup, is viewed as a natural fit for Juric’s intense, pressing system.

The midfielder is currently under contract with Fiorentina and spent the 2024–25 season on loan at Fenerbahçe.

He is valued at €20 million by Transfermarkt and previously earned a reported annual salary of €1.92 million during his time with the Italian side.

For Amrabat, a move to Atalanta could offer both a fresh start and a familiar environment under a manager who understands how to get the best out of him.

With the summer transfer window approaching, negotiations are expected to accelerate, especially as Atalanta aim to bolster their squad following a strong domestic season.

The Moroccan is one of several high-profile African players attracting interest this summer, with fans and clubs alike closely monitoring developments as the window unfolds.
