Defender Thabiso Monyane bids farewell to Orlando Pirates as he depart club after 13-years

South African defender Thabiso Monyane has said his final goodbye to Orlando Pirates as he depart the club following the expiration of his contract.

The 25-year-old right-back, who has almost spent his entire career with the Buccaneers leaves the club after 13-year stint.

Monyane joined Orlando Pirates at age 12 before transition from the youth ranks to the senior team. He established himself as a key member of the team until his departure this summer.

As he depart the club, the enterprising departure has sent an emotional farewell message to the club.

“As I close this chapter of my life, I am filled with mixed emotions—sadness as I leave the only football home I have ever known, but also excitement for the new journey ahead. Having joined the club from the age of 12 to 25, I realize this club has meant everything to me. I have grown as a player, but more importantly, as a person”

“I am grateful for the trophies we’ve won, the memories we’ve created, and the friendships that will last a lifetime. To the fans—thank you for your unwavering support. Your applause, chants, constructive criticism, and passion have fueled me every step of the way. I will never forget the electric atmosphere you created on matchdays.

“To the chairman, staff, technical team, and players, past and present, thank you for your hard work, dedication, and camaraderie. Each of you played a role in shaping me into the player I am today. As I embark on a new journey, I will always carry with me the lessons, values, and memories of this club. I will forever be grateful for the opportunity to represent this amazing club and to be a part of its history. Thank you, Orlando Pirates, for an unforgettable 13 years,” Monyane wrote on his social media.

Meanwhile, Thabiso Monyane is expected to join Orlando Pirates sworn-rivals, Kaizer Chiefs.
