South African outfit Kaizer Chiefs are planning a double swoop for Congolese star Fiston Mayele and Orlando Pirates defender Paseka Mako this summer.

The Soweto club wants to reinforce their squad for the new campaign following an inconsistent performance last term, where the club finished out of the top eight.

According to reports, Kaizer Chiefs are preparing a stunning double transfer move in an attempt to strengthen their attack and defense ahead of the 2025/26 season.

The Amakhosi are targeting outgoing Orlando Pirates defender Paseka Mako and Congolese superstar Fiston Mayele, who just fired Pyramids FC to their first-ever CAF Champions League crown.

Mako, 31, whose contract with Orlando Pirates expires on July 1, is set to depart the club after the Buccaneers opted against renewing his deal.

Despite being a key figure in recent seasons, Mako found minutes harder to come by under coach Jose Riveiro and later Mandla Ncikazi. With 173 appearances in a Pirates shirt, the experienced campaigner could bring vital stability to Chiefs’ struggling defence.

Kaizer Chiefs are eager to reinforce their backline, and Mako—available on a free transfer—represents a cost-effective solution. Reports suggest discussions are already underway.

At the other end of the pitch, Chiefs are intensifying their pursuit of Fiston Mayele, whose heroics with Egypt’s Pyramids FC have drawn attention across Africa and beyond.

The Congolese striker has been instrumental in his side’s historic CAF Champions League triumph, dismantling Mamelodi Sundowns in the final.

Mayele, 29, currently earns $1 million per season, but interest from abroad—allegedly offering him as much as $3 million annually—is heating up.

Kaizer Chiefs remain optimistic they can lure him to Naturena, despite stiff competition from local rivals Orlando Pirates and clubs outside the continent.
