The Algerian Football Federation announced on Monday the absence of striker Amin Guiri from the team lineup participating in the Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast this month.
In a statement on its website, the federation stated, “International striker Amin Guiri has left the current national team camp after receiving approval from the coaching staff, in consultation with the medical team.”

The statement continued, “His injury became apparent after reviewing the medical report from his club.
The player will not be able to participate in the Africa Cup of Nations.
The Federation and the national team wish the striker a speedy recovery.”
Guiri, 23, who plays for Stade Rennais in France, is considered a key player for Algeria.
He chose to represent “Les Verts” instead of France a few months ago.
Algeria’s coach, Djamel Belmadi, announced at Houari Boumediene International Airport before the team’s departure to Togo today that a player would leave the camp due to injury.
He also revealed that the team’s roster would be reduced to 25 players instead of 26.
The Algerian national team is preparing to participate in the Ivory Coast tournament by traveling to Togo today for a camp that will last until January 10.
During the external camp, Algeria will face Togo next Friday and then Burundi four days later.
Algeria competes in Group Four alongside Burkina Faso, Mauritania, and Angola in the upcoming tournament.
