Morocco midfielder Azzedine Ounahi may end up signing for English Premier League outfit Brighton and Hove Albion this summer.
Brighton are poised to bolster their squad for the new season, and Ounahi, who plies his trade for Marseille has emerged as a top target.
According to reports, Brighton are in direct talks with the midfielder, who has expressed a strong desire to join the Seagulls. However, the Premier League club will have to reach an agreement with Marseille on the terms of his transfer.
Ounahi spent last season on loan at Greek club Panathinaikos, where he excelled and was voted the team’s best player of the season. However, the Greek club was unable to activate the €11.5 million purchase option.
The Morocco midfielder is said not to be in the plans of Marseille coach Roberto De Zerbi, prompting Ounahi to look for a new destination that will guarantee him regular participation.
It is noteworthy that Ounahi joined Marseille in January 2023 from Angers, following his remarkable performances with the Moroccan national team, who reached the semi-finals of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar and finished fourth.
