Chelsea legend John Obi Mikel insists his former outfit will not sign Nigeria international Victor Osimhen this summer following the acquisition of Liam Delap.
The Blues are seeking to strengthen their squad for the new campaign, having secured qualification back to the Champions League.
Osimhen, who is set for a permanent departure from Napoli has been a long-term transfer target for the Premier League outfit.
However, the former Chelsea midfielder has disclosed the side will no longer make a move for Osimhen following the acquisition of Liam Delap from Ipswich Town.
The Premier League club is entrusting Delap to resolve their goalscoring and will not make a move for Osimhen.
“I don’t think Chelsea will sign Victor Osimhen now. We’ve gone in a different direction. We’ve signed Delap. I really hope he will strengthen the team,” Obi Mikel stated.
Meanwhile, Osimhen is closing in on a move to Saudi Pro League giants Al Hilal as the club seeks to secure his services before the start of the FIFA Club World Cup.
