Faouzi Ghoulam Successfully Undergoes Surgery After Injury Against Bilbao
Napoli defender and Algerian international Faouzi Ghoulam has undergone successful surgery following a fracture sustained during Wednesday’s Champions League play-off second leg against Athletic Bilbao.
The 23-year-old suffered a fracture “above the wrist” in the match that ended 3-1 in favour of Napoli. Despite the injury, Ghoulam reassured fans via his official Twitter account on Thursday, confirming that “everything is fine” after the procedure.
Ghoulam’s injury comes ahead of important international fixtures, with the defender having been called up by Algeria’s coach Christian Gourcuff for the African Cup of Nations qualifiers against Ethiopia and Mali on September 6 and 10 respectively.
The extent of Ghoulam’s recovery time remains unclear, but the successful surgery offers a positive outlook for both Napoli and the Algerian national team as they look ahead to upcoming competitions.
