Didier Deschamps Names Squad for Friendlies Against Spain and Serbia, Confirms Goalkeeper Rotation
France head coach Didier Deschamps has revealed his squad for the upcoming international friendlies against Spain on September 4 and Serbia on September 7. Among the notable recalls is goalkeeper Steve Mandanda, who missed the World Cup due to injury.
Speaking ahead of the matches, Deschamps addressed the goalkeeper situation, acknowledging Mandanda’s return from a serious injury. “Mandanda is coming back. He had a pretty serious injury and he’s not at his best yet,” said the French coach.
Deschamps emphasized the quality and depth in his goalkeeping options, stating, “I have the privilege of having three top-level goalkeepers. Over this two-year period, I will be required to give all the goalkeepers playing time.”
The coach added that before establishing a clear pecking order, he plans to have discussions with all three keepers, reflecting a measured approach to managing the position ahead of future competitions.
