Franco-Ivorian striker Yannick Boli has continued his Eastern European football journey by signing for Russian club Anzhi Makhachkala, the player announced via his official Twitter account.
The 26-year-old nephew of former professionals Basil and Roger Boli took to social media to confirm his transfer, posting: “New project new life thank you my lord!!! Yb94 Anzhi makachkala,” along with a photo of himself in the club’s kit.
Boli’s career has been marked by several moves across Europe. After beginning his professional career at Paris Saint-Germain, he spent two seasons at Nîmes before venturing east to Bulgaria with Chernomorets Bourgas in 2012.
Earlier this year, Boli signed a two-year deal with Ukrainian side Zorya Luhansk on February 18. However, the political crisis in Ukraine forced him to cut short his stay. During his time at Luhansk, he was the club’s top scorer, netting 14 goals in 36 appearances.
The forward’s promising performances earned him international recognition, having played for the Côte d’Ivoire U21 team in 2010. That same year, he was part of the squad that won the prestigious Toulon Tournament.
While the length of his contract with Anzhi Makhachkala has not been disclosed, the move represents a fresh chapter for Boli as he adapts to a new league and country.
Once linked with a potential move to Real Madrid, the striker’s journey continues as he seeks to establish himself in Russian football.
