Abdoulaye Méïté, who has been without a contract since leaving Dijon, has now found a new club. Following an unsuccessful transfer to Panathinaikos in Greece, the 32-year-old Ivorian international defender has reached an agreement with FC Honka, a Finnish first division club.
FC Honka, the winner of the Finnish Cup and finishing 7th in the last year’s championship, has signed Méïté to a six-month contract. The former Marseille player expressed his excitement about returning to the pitch, stating, “I’m back on the pitch and I’m happy. It’s been several months since I played so I’m happy. This is my first time in Finland. It’s cold, I have to get used to that. No problem. I am here to provide my experience. The team is good, the players too. I’m here to win the Championship,” as he shared his aspirations as the new defender for FC Honka.
