Aubameyang’s Spiderman Celebration Divides Borussia Dortmund
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s playful celebration during Borussia Dortmund’s German Super Cup victory over Bayern Munich has sparked mixed reactions.
After scoring Dortmund’s second goal in their 2-0 win on Wednesday, the former Saint-Étienne striker donned a Spiderman mask in a lighthearted moment. However, not everyone found the gesture amusing.
BVB manager Michael Zorc expressed concern, telling Bild on Friday: “If it’s a one-off, no problem, but when he gets a yellow card for that, it’s no longer funny. We don’t need that every week.”
Under German Football Association rules, players who cover their heads with masks or similar objects are subject to warnings. Despite this, referee Mr. Gagelmann did not caution Aubameyang during the match.
Midfielder Sebastian Kehl added with a touch of humor: “Luckily, that goal helped us win. Otherwise, we would have given him a good thrashing.”
Aubameyang’s celebration may have entertained fans but serves as a reminder of the fine line between showmanship and discipline on the pitch.
