Karim Benzema Close to Signing Real Madrid Contract Extension
Karim Benzema is on the verge of securing a contract extension with Real Madrid, sources from Spain indicate. The former Lyon striker is reportedly set to commit his future to the Spanish giants until 2019, with an annual salary around €8 million.
However, reports from El Confidencial suggest a slightly different arrangement, stating that Benzema’s new deal would run until 2018 with a progressive salary structure: €6.5 million in the first year, rising to €7 million in the second, and €7.5 million in the third.
Behind the scenes, the extension has been strongly supported by key figures at the club, including head coach Carlo Ancelotti, captain Sergio Ramos, and Cristiano Ronaldo, all of whom have reportedly played a personal role in encouraging Benzema to remain at the Santiago Bernabéu.
