Loïc Rémy Transfer Drama: Liverpool Pulls Out After Failed Medical
What initially looked like a done deal has taken an unexpected twist in Loïc Rémy’s summer transfer saga. The striker’s anticipated move to Liverpool was called off after he reportedly failed the medical examination, leaving Rémy still contracted to Queens Park Rangers (QPR).
Following the aborted transfer, Newcastle United—who had previously expressed interest in retaining the French forward—may reignite their pursuit despite the player’s earlier reluctance to join the Magpies, citing his desire to play in the Champions League.
Newcastle manager Alan Pardew voiced his surprise at the sudden collapse of the Liverpool deal, telling the Newcastle Chronicle: “I’m surprised by what happened to Loïc. I thought he was going to sign for Liverpool and the door suddenly closed. I didn’t expect it, and we had no problems with Loïc when we had him. We have to monitor his situation over time.”
QPR, however, still holds the power to decide Rémy’s fate. The London club, newly promoted to the Premier League, now believes there is a chance they could retain their star striker amid the transfer uncertainty.
