Zamalek Appoints Hossam Hassan as New Head Coach
Egyptian giants Zamalek have named club legend Hossam Hassan as their new head coach, the club announced on Thursday via their official social media channels. Hassan replaces Ahmed Hossam “Mido,” who was dismissed last Tuesday following a string of disappointing results.
Hossam Hassan, a celebrated former striker for both Zamalek and the Egyptian national team, is no stranger to the coaching role at the club, having previously managed Zamalek in 2011, although with limited success.
Since leaving his last post with the Jordan national team, Hassan had been without a club. During his tenure in Jordan, he nearly led the national side to an unprecedented milestone — reaching the intercontinental playoffs for the 2014 World Cup, where they were ultimately defeated by Uruguay.
Hassan will be supported by his twin brother Ibrahim Hassan, also a former international player, as his assistant coach. Together, they face the challenge of restoring confidence and delivering results to satisfy Zamalek’s passionate fanbase.
