Jorge Costa Unveils First Squad as Gabon Panthers Coach
Newly appointed Gabon national team coach Jorge Costa announced his inaugural squad this Wednesday, signaling the start of his tenure with the Panthers. The Belgian tactician, who took over in early July, has called up 23 locally-based players for a closed training camp starting Thursday. Costa, formerly of FC Cluj, aims to instill technical and tactical discipline in the squad ahead of upcoming competitions.
The selected roster includes three goalkeepers: Lorient Kantsounga (AS Mangasport), Victorien Moussa Otiomo (Missile FC), and Claude Nguema Bekalé (CF Mounana).
Defensive options feature Emmanuel Ndong Mba (US Bitam), Aaron Appindangoye (CF Mounana), Muller Dinda (Missile FC), Edmond Mouele (AS Mangasport), Georges Ambourouet (CF Mounana), Erwin Nguema (US Bitam), Sassou Chico (CF Mounana), and Barder Ngandjouma (AS Mangasport).
The midfield includes Franck Engonga (CF Mounana), Cédric Boussougou (AS Mangasport), Ness Knox Younga (CF Mounana), Duval Nzembi (Missile FC), Lionel Obame (POG FC), Paul Kessany (OM), and Jean René Nze Mba (FC Sapins).
Up front, the attacking line is composed of Bonaventure Sokambi (CF Mounana), Romuald Tsitsigui (AS Mangasport), Lionel Yacouya (US Bitam), Arnold Yembi (CMS), and Aliday Poaty (Missile FC).
The camp will serve as Costa’s platform to implement his vision and prepare the team for forthcoming challenges on the continental stage.
