Al Ahly chase league title ahead of new era with Jose Riveiro

Al Ahly are just one win away from writing another golden chapter in their rich history.

On Wednesday night, they take on Pharco at Cairo Stadium in the final game of the Premier League season, needing three points to officially claim their 45th domestic crown.

With the league trophy within reach, the club is already preparing for a new chapter. Once the final whistle blows, attention will shift to rebuilding and reorganizing the team’s technical setup. Al Ahly have already appointed Jose Riveiro as head coach, supported by four foreign specialists, including roles in fitness, analysis, and goalkeeping. Mohamed Shawky will remain as general manager.

The new structure means parting ways with Belgian goalkeeping coach Michel Jancon, whose six-year stint was filled with notable success. Riveiro has opted to bring in his own trusted goalkeeping coach as part of the transition.

Emad El Nahhas, the interim coach who brought back calm after the team’s exit from the African Champions League, is still weighing up his future, either continuing in the technical team or stepping into a new role as director of football.
