Germany could be without key defender Mats Hummels for tomorrow’s World Cup final against Argentina, after the player sustained a knee injury during the semi-final demolition of Brazil. Since Tuesday’s match, Hummels has been undergoing treatment, with hopes high that he will recover in time for the decisive game.
National team manager Oliver Bierhoff provided cautious optimism, telling reporters: “It’s a precautionary measure. We assume he will be able to play.”
