Hamdi Harbaoui’s outstanding 2013–2014 season has firmly established him as one of the most prolific strikers in the Belgian Pro League. The 29-year-old Tunisian forward scored 22 goals for Lokeren, finishing as the league’s top scorer and drawing attention both domestically and abroad.
With Standard Liège recently losing Michy Batshuayi to Olympique de Marseille, the club is urgently seeking a new attacking spearhead. Harbaoui has emerged as a prime target. According to reports from Sudpresse, Standard has already made contact with the player and possibly submitted an offer.
While Harbaoui has often expressed a preference for a move abroad, he’s reportedly open to joining Standard Liège, recognizing the club’s stature and potential. He stated:
“It’s the right time to explore new horizons.”
Whether a deal materializes will now depend on Lokeren and Standard reaching an agreement. For Harbaoui, a transfer would be a timely step forward in his career after dominating the Belgian league.
