Karim Benzema Reflects on France’s World Cup Exit Despite Personal Efforts
Karim Benzema’s hopes of lifting the World Cup trophy this year ended abruptly after France’s quarter-final defeat to Germany. Despite contributing three goals and two assists throughout the tournament, the striker found himself powerless in the crucial clash against the German side.
Speaking after the match, Benzema expressed his disappointment but also acknowledged the team’s effort and lessons learned. “We’re disappointed because the adventure ends here. We gave everything, but we didn’t manage to score that goal,” he said.
Reflecting on the match, Benzema added, “The first half was quite difficult; we didn’t try hard enough for my taste. We came on with a lot more impact in the second half, we put them in danger, but they have a very, very good goalkeeper.”
Looking ahead, the striker remained optimistic despite the setback. “We always want to go further, but that’s good. We’re learning, we still have to progress. We’re going to turn the page and start off on the right foot.”
Benzema concluded on a positive note: “I’m satisfied, even though I would have liked to help the team go further. Despite everything, we can be proud of ourselves.”
