German-Senegalese winger Leroy Sane no longer on Arsenal’s transfer radar

Arsenal have withdrawn from the race to sign Bayern Munich winger Leroy Sane, despite earlier links suggesting the German international could be a potential option for Mikel Arteta’s squad overhaul this summer.

Sane, who has Senegalese roots through his father, was thought to be on the radar of several top European clubs as his contract with Bayern Munich approaches its expiration on June 30.

However, Arsenal have now deprioritised any pursuit of the 29-year-old, shifting their attention to younger wide attackers better aligned with their long-term strategy.

According to Sky Sports Germany journalist Kerry Hau, the North London club is focusing on more youthful targets, with the likes of Real Madrid’s Rodrygo, Athletic Club’s Nico Williams, and Borussia Dortmund’s Jamie Bynoe-Gittens topping their shortlist.

These names are seen as more suitable for Arsenal’s tactical evolution under Arteta and better equipped to deliver both immediate quality and future growth.

Hau added that while the idea of Sane joining Arsenal “could come up again later in August if their top alternatives fall through,” there is currently no active interest from the Emirates side.

“It’s very unrealistic and cold,” he stated, suggesting the club is unlikely to revive their pursuit barring a significant change in circumstances.

Sane, a former Manchester City winger, remains a high-profile option for clubs seeking experienced attacking reinforcements.

His potential availability on a free transfer could draw offers from several sides across Europe later in the window. But as things stand, Arsenal will not be one of them.
