The French coach, arriving at the press conference burdened with disappointment, acknowledged that this marked his first failure in more than 25 years of his coaching career. Despite having a year and a half to prepare the team, Algeria was eliminated after two defeats and a draw in the U-20 Africa Cup of Nations.
