Samir Nasri Responds to Deschamps’ World Cup Snub
Didier Deschamps’ decision to exclude Samir Nasri from the French World Cup squad has stirred controversy. The France manager explained his choice by pointing to Nasri’s inconsistency in national team performances compared to his impressive form with Manchester City. Deschamps stated, “Samir’s performances with the French team are not up to the standards he has achieved with his club, Manchester City. He is important and a starter at Manchester City, but that’s not the case with the French team. And when he is a substitute, he is not happy, and it’s felt in the group. That’s why he is not on the list.”
In response, Nasri, who has long been a key figure at Manchester City, expressed understanding of the decision, stating, “I respect his decision, which was not a surprise to me. If he thinks my behavior is bad, that’s his business. I play for my team, Manchester City, and I have no problem.”
Manchester City’s manager, Manuel Pellegrini, also weighed in on the situation, expressing surprise at Nasri’s omission. Pellegrini defended his player, stating, “He deserves to play in the French team, but every technical director has his choices.”
