Paris Saint-Germain wing-back Nuno Mendes has praised goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma following their 2-1 victory over Arsenal in the second leg of their Champions League semifinal, securing a 3-1 aggregate win.

The result sees PSG progress to the final, where they will seek to claim one of European football’s most coveted titles.

Mendes, who is of Angolan heritage, highlighted Donnarumma’s influence on the night.

The Italian shot-stopper produced a series of crucial saves, reaffirming his status as one of the world’s premier goalkeepers.

Speaking in the mixed zone after the match, Mendes said, “We know we can make history. But there’s one game left, we know what we have to do. We have to stay focused, stay humble. We’re going there to win.”

Reflecting on the significance of the night, he added, “Today, we knew a great match awaited us, here with our fans. I think we deserved to go to the final. Now, we have to win it.”

Mendes also singled out Donnarumma for special praise, recognizing the goalkeeper’s commanding presence. “Donnarumma? He’s a great goalkeeper. By his size and his talent with great saves.

“Today, he was there for us. He was good today and I hope that continues in the next match,” Mendes remarked.

PSG’s path to the final has been marked by resilient performances and standout individual displays, with Donnarumma’s contributions proving critical.

As the French giants prepare for the final, the focus will remain on maintaining their momentum and composure as they seek to secure a historic Champions League triumph.
