UEFA, the governing body of European football, has initiated an investigation against Inter Milan for the behavior of its supporters during the recent Europa League round of 16 second leg match against Tottenham (4-1). Some Inter Milan fans were accused of uttering racist insults towards Tottenham’s Emmanuel Adebayor, accompanied by monkey cries during the Togolese international’s ball catches.
Following the match, both William Gallas and the manager of Tottenham called for UEFA to impose sanctions against Inter Milan in response to the racist behavior exhibited by some of their supporters.
