Al Hilal goalkeeper Yassine Bounou made an unexpected piece of history during the team’s 5-3 win over Al Raed in the Saudi Roshen Professional League on Wednesday night.
The moment came when Karim El Barkaoui netted Al Raed’s opening goal against his fellow Moroccan, Bounou, at King Abdullah Sports City Stadium in Buraidah, during the competition’s 30th round.
This marked Bounou’s 35th goal conceded in the current Saudi Pro League season.
According to Saudi radio station UFM, the Moroccan international became the first goalkeeper in Al Hilal’s history to allow 35 goals in a single season of the competition.
El Barkaoui would go on to score again in the 68th minute, and Saleh Al-Omari added a third for Al Raed in the 99th minute via a penalty, bringing Bounou’s total goals conceded in this season’s league to 37.
