Moroccan defender Achraf Hakimi has been named Man of the Match for his outstanding performance in PSG’s clash against Arsenal in the UEFA Champions League semi-final second-leg clash on Thursday night.

The exciting full-back started the crucial game for the Parisians and put up a flawless performance not just in his team’s defense but in the attack as well.

Playing as the home team, PSG opened the scoring in the 27th minute when Fabian Ruiz capitalised on a rebound and rifled a shot from the edge of the box into the right corner.

The Parisians missed a chance to double their lead in the 69th minute when Vitinha saw his penalty saved brilliantly by Arsenal goalkeeper David Raya.

Just minutes later, PSG’s persistence paid off. In the 72nd minute, Ousmane Dembélé picked out Achraf Hakimi with a clever pass into the box. The Moroccan defender calmly slotted the ball into the right side of the net to make it 2-0.

Arsenal pulled one back in the 76th minute through Bukayo Saka, who reacted quickest to a loose ball in the box and beat the PSG keeper from close range.

Courtesy of the eventual 2-1 win tonight, PSG are through to the finals of this season’s UEFA Champions League with a 3-1 aggregate win against Arsenal.

For his impressive displays throughout the 90 minutes, Hakimi gets to go home with the Man of the Match prize.

Hakimi and his teammates must now prepare to face Italian outfit Inter Milan to fight for the ultimate glory.
