Tottenham Eye Algeria’s Yacine Brahimi in €14m Summer Move
Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly preparing a €14 million (£12m) bid for Algerian international Yacine Brahimi, as they look to strengthen their squad ahead of next season.
According to the Daily Star, Spurs have identified the Granada midfielder as a key target following his impressive performances in La Liga. The 24-year-old, formerly of Stade Rennais, has played a central role in Granada’s campaign and notably caught the eye with a standout display in a surprise win over Barcelona on April 12.
While Brahimi is said to be enjoying life in Andalusia, he has openly stated his desire to join a more ambitious club to further his development. A move to the Premier League could provide the next step in his career.
Tottenham scouts have made several trips to Spain to monitor the Algerian’s progress and are believed to be eager to finalise a deal before the start of the 2014 FIFA World Cup, where Brahimi is expected to feature prominently for Algeria.
If the move goes through, Brahimi would join a growing list of North African talents making their mark in the Premier League.
