Alphonso Davies has opened up about a powerful emotional moment following the serious injury that ended his season.
The Bayern Munich and Canada star tore his cruciate ligament during a clash with the USA on 23 March in the CONCACAF Nations League semi-final.
Just days after the diagnosis, Davies shared his feelings through a vlog on his YouTube channel, describing a raw and painful breakdown. “I have physio in 30 minutes,” he said on 30 March. “I had a mental breakdown. I don’t know where it came from. I had a shower and then burst into tears and panicked. Hopefully it will get better day by day. We have to fight through it.”
The 24-year-old’s honesty has drawn praise from fans and fellow players, many of whom flooded social media with support. A day after his emotional episode, Davies posted publicly, thanking supporters for their kindness.
“Thank you for all your love, kind words and support… I will work hard to come back stronger,” he wrote, vowing to push through the long road ahead.
