Belgium Submits Bid to Host Euro 2020 Matches
Belgium has officially submitted its bid to host part of the UEFA Euro 2020 tournament, according to Belgian press reports this Thursday. The country’s bid comes just one day before the deadline for submitting applications, which is set for Friday.
Euro 2020 will be a unique edition, as matches will be spread across 13 European cities in 13 different countries, rather than being held in a single nation. This format aims to celebrate the pan-European nature of the tournament.
Belgium hopes to secure the right to host four matches, including the prestigious opening match, on its home turf. The names of the cities selected to host the tournament will be officially announced in September. The Belgian Football Federation is hopeful that its bid will be successful, as the country aims to showcase its growing football stature on the continental stage.
