Morocco Officially Signs Agreement to Host 2015 Africa Cup of Nations
After a year of anticipation, Morocco has officially taken the next step in preparing for the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON). The long-awaited framework agreement for the tournament’s organization was signed this Monday at the headquarters of the Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) in Rabat.
The agreement, which spans 78 pages and includes annexes, was signed by Almamy Kabele Camara, the second vice-president of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), and Fouzi Lekjaa, the newly elected president of the Moroccan Federation.
This comprehensive document outlines the roles and responsibilities of both CAF and the FRMF, detailing the logistics and areas of cooperation required to make the tournament a success. Key focus areas highlighted in the agreement include marketing, media relations, transport, accommodation, ticketing, accreditation, security, and financial management.
The signing marks an important milestone in Morocco’s preparations to host one of Africa’s most prestigious sporting events, just months before the tournament kicks off in January 2015. The tournament is expected to attract thousands of visitors and showcase Morocco’s ability to host a high-profile international event.
