Jaraaf Extend Lead in Senegalese Ligue 1 with Victory Over Linguère

Jaraaf of Dakar tightened their grip on the top spot in the Senegalese Ligue 1 Pro with a 2-1 win over Linguère de Saint-Louis on Saturday, in a spirited contest held at the Demba Diop stadium. The “Green-Whites” continue their march toward the title, capitalising on slip-ups by their closest challengers.

Striker Ibrahima Diop once again proved decisive, netting one of the two goals for Jaraaf and further cementing his status as the league’s top scorer. His 13th goal of the season puts him one ahead of AS Pikine’s Adama Mbaye, who also found the net this weekend to reach 12.

New signing Issa Bâ, formerly of French side AJ Auxerre, made his debut for Jaraaf. The experienced midfielder featured for 65 minutes and delivered a composed performance, helping his new club secure all three points. Bâ signed a one-year deal with Jaraaf and is expected to bring added stability to the midfield in the title run-in.

Jaraaf’s closest rivals, AS Pikine and US Ouakam (USO), were both held to draws—1-1 against Touré Kunda and 0-0 against Suneor, respectively—allowing the league leaders to extend their advantage at the top of the table.

Elsewhere, Casa Sports claimed a crucial 2-0 victory over Dakar University Club (DUC) in Kolda. The result lifts the southern side further away from the relegation zone and adds to their recent positive form.

Saturday, April 19 Results – Ligue 1 Pro (Matchday 17):

  • Jaraaf 2–1 Linguère Saint-Louis

  • Casa Sports 2–0 DUC

  • AS Pikine 1–1 Touré Kunda

  • US Ouakam 0–0 Suneor

The 17th round of fixtures continues on Sunday and Tuesday:

  • Sunday, April 20: Mbour Stadium vs. Ngor, Yeggo vs. Port

  • Tuesday, April 22: Niarry Tally vs. Diambars FC

As the season enters a decisive phase, Jaraaf remain favourites for the title, but with several rounds still to play, the battle for the top spots—and to avoid relegation—is far from over.
